Thoughts from Pastor-Russell.com on the topic:

Sudden, rapid, increase in knowledge and world travel

Knowledge; Information; Technology; Communication; Travel … earthwide!  How far we have come since the first steam engine moved a man in 1804!  We take our modern inventions, medicine, and discoveries for granted, but these things have come upon mankind suddenly and rapidly.  Imagine a man who has lived for 60 years, all his life travelling mostly on foot or by horse, with practically no medicine, poor sanitation and limited access to knowledge.  Then, between his 60th and 61st birthday he witnesses everything from the invention of the lightbulb, to walking on the moon, to the mapping of the human genome. Sounds remarkable, doesn't it?  It's not so farfetched!  Mankind walked this earth for 60 centuries in darkness, and only in the last century did all of these amazing things come into existence.

Pastor Russell lived only at the beginning of this trend, but clearly saw that this was the fulfillment of Bible Prophecy, that Jesus had returned "in the image of the invisible God" (Colossians 1:15) and had begun the process of restitution to prepare the earth for his soon coming kingdom! (Acts 3:19-24)  Many who have thought about these remarkable advances remain puzzled as to why or how they came about.  Some even theorize that all our technological advancements come from creatures from other planets.  The Bible gives a better, and more logical, explanation.
